Favourites #1 - April

This is the first favourites post I've done! Ironically I don't actually have that many favourites this month since my skins been acting up so I've not really ventured out of my safety blanket and used minimal products.

That being said I have been loving and using a lot of the Kevin Aucoin creamy glow duo (which I reviewed in my last post). At first I was all for Pravelle, the rosy pink shade, but now I'm lusting over Janelle which is more of a dusty pinky/peach as it leaves a lovely glow to the skin.

The Lord & Berry smudeproof eyeliner is 720 sand, is just a bronzy brown eyeliner stick. It's not too creamy and but not too hard, so I use it both on my eyes or on my waterline. It's not as harsh as black eyeliner or eyeshadow but still gives a little somethin' somethin' to your eyes. 

Skin wise, my skin has been horrendous well, horrendous for me as I broke out a bit. So I stopped using a lot of my usual makeup and focused on simple skincare. The laneige balancing emulsion is something I've had for ages and forgot about, it's so moisturising and simple so I've stopped using a complex routine and just stuck to this and treatment products/masks. Which has definitely helped since my skin's recovered now. Also just to mentioned, the La roche posay thermal spring water is another thing I've been loving for a long time now so thought I'd mention. This is great for all skin types and you literally just spray and a fine mist of thermal water sprays your face it's just great I love it.

Lip wise, I've rediscovered my love for the korres lip butter in quince. It's moisturising, pigmented and buttery. Definitely a handbag must have. As for my fingers, I've been using this & other stories nail polish in Moire Green quite a lot. It's a lovely really pale green that I think would compliment all skin tones when on.

Lush mask of magnaminty - £9.95 // Spot patch £3-5 // La roche posay effaclar duo - £13

Since the new year has begun,  I've noticed a lot of people including my friends are focused on detoxing their skin / treating their skin etc etc basically just getting rid of impurities and trying to maintain clear and fresh skin. So here's 3 simple products that can help with acne, breakouts and pores to help you clean up your skin this year, and I must add that I do not in any way have perfect skin but these are 3 products I constantly reach for as they are of course my skin saviours.

The lush mask of mask of magnaminty is, like the name suggests, a minty multipurpose mask that helps treat your skin in terms of acne, pores and sebum production. It also has exfoliating properties so you can use it as a scrub when you rinse it off your face (or back as it can also help those who have bacne).  This mask isn't a miracle product but I definitely find it helps when I'm breaking out or am getting oily and it isn't harsh plus the ingredient are natural and definitely will help with acne if used continually. I personally use this once a week if i need it, and I'm always pleased with the soft glow it gives me. They retail for around five pounds for a smaller tub and nine pounds for the bigger one which I own and I do think it's worth the money as you get a lot of use out of it.

I haven't seen spot patches/treatments in the UK, but in Asia they're quite popular as theres almost an immediate effect. The patches are basically either clear or skin coloured (like a plaster) round stickers which you stick onto your spot and the sticky side will stop your spots from spreading, absorb the acne secretion and soothe any burning or aching. I usually put one on at night if I have a particularly big spot or one that's sore and red and the next morning it'll have reduced in size or gone. I've also found that sometimes the lush make doesn't help sore spots to go whilst this does.  You can buy these online from taiwan or other asian countries and they ship within a week, give them a try!

Finally, la roche posy effaclar duo needs no introduction or explanation as to why it's a skin saviour, this stuff is amazing! 

December favourites

Burberry sheer foundation - £35   

I've never really been a fan of foundation as the ones I had tried never really colour matched well and i felt like they were cake and just sat on my skin like a mask. This december I dug out my burberry foundation and decided to mix it with a spf moisturiser, the ration was about 1:2. I had some red breakouts and I felt self conscious but the mixture was just what I needed! it was pretty much a diy tinted moistener and gave me a healthy, dewy glow and covered my redness and evened out my skin, plus the moisturiser lightened the colour of the foundation so it matched me perfectly. It wasn't high coverage as i used more moisturiser then foundation but if you want to try it out you can play around with the ratio. It was very moisturising, not cakey and just felt like my skin but better.

Max factor false lash effect mascara (black/brown)  - £10.99

I posted a while ago about my benefit they're real mascara which I thought was my holy grail mascara. But I recently got this mascara, from max factor, in the colour black/brown which is just a dark brown and I adore it.  Rather then a carbon black false lash effect that black mascaras often give, i find this mascara just darkens your lashes giving a natural looking yet full effect that is perfect for a simple look or no makeup look. I usually use 1-2 coats of this but I'm sure that if you build it up you can get the 'false lash effect' it states, but for me I don't really need/want that.

Max factor eyeshadow (bronze haze) - £7.99

This is a 'smoky eye effect eye shadow stick) that i've been loving this month. Step 1 is golden champagne colour and step 2 is a deep chocolate brown with a reddish undertone, the two colours can be worn together for a smoky eye or individually. What i actually like is the difference in shapes as step 1 is rounded which makes it easy to apply all over the lid whereas the sharp edge of step 2 is great to line your lids with and it allows you to have precision. It's a really creamy shadow and I haven't really found anything to complain about! I really want to buy another colour soon.

La Roche Posay effaclar duo -£10

The effaclar duo is such a highly raved about product and many people say it's their skincare saviour so I wonder what took me so long to try it out! I mentioned earlier that I've been having some problems with breakouts and this has helped a lot. It's not an overnight treatment but it definitely helps the breakouts clear faster then if you weren't using it at all. Also it helps with pores, which isn't a problem for me, but I know many people have issues with enlarged pores. It's a very light cream that sinks in immediately but you can feel ever so slightly that there's something on your skin, but I kind of like that.
